1. Who this policy covers
This policy describes how the YouTube SEO Tag Extractor browser extension (“the extension”, “we”, “us”) handles information. It applies to the extension as distributed through the Chrome Web Store and to this website.
The extension is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC.
2. Information we collect
None. The extension does not collect, record, transmit, sell or share any information about you. Specifically, we do not collect any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information — name, address, email address, age or identification number.
- Health, financial or payment information.
- Authentication information — passwords, credentials, security questions or PINs.
- Personal communications — emails, texts or chat messages.
- Location data of any precision.
- Web history, browsing activity, clicks, or a list of the videos or pages you visit.
- User activity, keystrokes, mouse movement or interaction analytics.
- Website content beyond what is described in section 3, which never leaves your device.
There is no registration, no login, no licence key and no usage counter. We have no way of knowing whether you have installed the extension, let alone what you do with it.
3. What the extension reads, and where it goes
When — and only when — you click the extension's toolbar icon while a YouTube video is open, the extension reads publicly visible information about that one video: its title, description, tags, hashtags, video and channel identifiers, category, publish date, duration, and public view and like counts.
This information is processed entirely inside your browser. It is displayed in the popup window and held in memory only while that popup is open. When you close the popup it is discarded. It is never uploaded, logged, cached or backed up anywhere.
4. Permissions and why they are needed
The extension requests the minimum permissions required to function. Each is used strictly for the purpose described below and for nothing else.

This is necessary because YouTube is a single-page application — after you navigate between videos, only the live player reports the video actually on screen. Scoped to the one site the extension is built for. It is used for a single fallback: if a video's tags cannot be read from the player, the extension re-requests that video's own public watch page and reads the keywords value from the returned HTML. The request is sent with credentials omitted, so it carries no cookies and is not linked to your YouTube account. No data is ever sent to YouTube. |
The extension deliberately does not request the storage, tabs, history, cookies, webRequest or <all_urls> permissions.
5. Remote code
The extension does not use remote code. All executable code is contained in the package reviewed and published by the Chrome Web Store. There are no remotely hosted scripts or stylesheets, no eval(), no dynamically constructed functions, and no code fetched or evaluated at runtime.
The single network request described in section 4 returns HTML that is treated strictly as text data: a value is extracted from it and the response is never inserted into a page or executed. Video thumbnail previews load images from YouTube's image servers; images are not executable code.
6. Third parties
We use no third-party services in the extension: no analytics providers, no error-reporting services, no advertising networks, no content delivery networks and no external fonts. No data is shared with, sold to, or transferred to any third party, because no data is gathered in the first place.
Your own use of YouTube remains governed by Google's Privacy Policy. This extension does not change what YouTube itself collects from you, and cannot see or influence it.
7. Data retention and security
There is no retention period, because nothing is retained. No databases, no logs and no backups exist. Data read from a page lives in your browser's memory for as long as the popup is open and is released when it closes.
8. Children
The extension is a general-purpose developer and marketing tool. It is not directed at children, and since it collects no information from anyone, it collects no information from children.
9. Your rights
Rights such as access, correction, deletion and portability under the GDPR, the CCPA and similar laws apply to personal data held by an operator. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase. You can remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions; because nothing is stored, uninstalling leaves nothing behind.
10. Changes to this policy
If the extension ever gains a feature that changes how information is handled, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date at the top will change before that version is published. Material changes will also be noted in the Chrome Web Store listing. We will never begin collecting personal data without disclosing it here first.
